Firstly, Happy New Year to my readers :) Here's to hoping 2017 doesn't throw any curveballs at you like 2016 has.

For many, this is this time of the year that one would have a list of goals they want to achieve. Be it realistic or unrealistic, it's a list nonetheless. Some on the list may be goals that have not yet been achieved, some may be completely new.

On the other hand, there are people who don't really know what to do. Even better, they're afraid of change, afraid of trying new things. In this 21st century world, what doesn't change? How to stay on top of the game? Adapt. Learn. Be Play-Doh, if you will.

I'm sure there are things that you are dying to try, but never got round to doing it because you came up with a million and one excuses as to why you couldn't do it. Even if you did have time, there was always one thing that held you back: Fear.

The issue here is not how extreme those bucket-list things are, but one's courage to do them. Got something crazy you want to do? Do it. Got something you wanted to try? Try it. Why wait?

人生有几个十年? (direct translation: how many 'ten years' do you have in your life?) How many chances do you have in your life to do all the crazy things you want to do? Why not just go do things while you can?

Perhaps there is a reason? Psychologically, we look for patterns, rhythms and consistencies in our lives. Without it, we seem to be a bit lost as to what to do. It's how we cope and go about our lives as per usual. A little bit of a tangent can cause us to lose balance - and that is scary for a lot of us. No consistency means no stability, and that is really foreign for a lot of us.

But then again, who wants things to be mundane?

If there is one thing to do this new year, go do something crazy. Skydive. Go shark diving. Get out of your comfort zone. Trust me, your 80 year old self would thank you ;)

(I mean, just picture it. You're a grandparent telling your grandkids that you swam with sharks or jumped out of a plane? They'd be hella jealous)
